Partner News: Denys Hickey Joins Ince & Co. In Singapore

by on March 2, 2010

In January, Denys Hickey, became yet another partner from an international firm to relocate to Asia.  Hickey has been a partner with Ince & Co in London since 1986, working in the Energy & Offshore Group.  He has expertise in commodities trading and advises clients on a wide array of oil and gas issues.  Hickey is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, as well as the Oil and Gas Branch of the Arbitration Club.

Once again, we see that international firms are continuing to recruit and/or relocate legal talent to their Asia offices in an effort to take advantage of opportunities in the region while the markets in their home countries continue to remain struggle with recession.  Both Hickey and Ince & Co. senior partner James Wilson commented on the reasons for the move:

” Hickey said: “During my career I have advised a number of clients in the Asia Pacific region and have worked closely with my colleagues in Singapore, as well as in Hong Kong and Shanghai. I am looking forward to developing both our energy and offshore and international trading business in the region and to advising both current and new clients of the firm.”

Wilson added:  “As a result of business demand for our skills and capabilities, the firm is experiencing strong growth in the Asia Pacific region. Denys’s move provides our clients with access to a highly experienced, commercial partner whose skills complement our partner team in Singapore.“”

We feel confident that this trend of relocating partners and recruiting solicitors and trainees in Singapore and other major Asian cities will continue apace during 2010 and look forward to providing excellent opportunities for our clients and candidates.
