Firm News: Walkers and Norton Rose Make Moves in Hong Kong and Singapore

by on May 11, 2010

ALB has recently reported that Walkers and Norton Rose have appointed new partners in Asia:

“Walkers has appointed the current head of its insolvency and corporate recovery group, Guy Locke, to the flagship role of head of Asia to meet increased demand in the area. Locke specialises in corporate restructuring and contentious insolvency as well as matters arising out of distressed investment vehicles.  Concurrently, the firm has made Carol Hall (pictured), the current head of its investment funds group in Hong Kong, the new managing partner of that office. Hall will replace long-time incumbent Hugh O’Loughlin, who will depart in the summer to lead the firm’s Jersey office and the expansion of its corporate group into Europe. ”

“The only Asia-based lawyers to feature in latest round of partner promotions are both in Singapore – KC Lye (dispute resolution) and Daniel Yong (corporate/M&A).  As a Qualifying Foreign Law Practice (QFLP) license holder, the firm is able to practice Singapore law in certain areas through Singapore-qualified lawyers it employs. The promotions of Lye and Yong bring the number of partners in the firm’s Singapore office to 14.  The Singapore office has also been the beneficiary of a number of transfers of Australian lawyers following the merger of Norton Rose and Deacons Australia mid last year.”
