Partner News: Linklaters and Withers Make New Appointments

Withersworldwide recently announced that Todd Beutler has been named as Partner in Hong Kong. Mr. Beutler, has extensive experience in US tax law and will help direct the US tax team in Hong Kong, which has been engaged in more US tax related work due to changes in legislation in the United States.

Laurence Ho has also joined Withers’ US tax team as ana associated and be based in Hong Kong.

Mr. Beutler provides cross-border tax and estate planning advice for high-net worth individuals and families, their businesses, trusts and family offices, and related charitable organizations. His tax practice also focuses on analyzing, structuring and negotiating private equity investments and joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, development and commercialization of IP/IT, and core commercial transactions. Todd regularly represents clients in tax controversies with U.S. federal and state tax authorities, and in litigation of disputes involving trusts, estates, conservatorships and guardianships. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court and clerked for the chief judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Ohio.

Mr. Ho focuses on international tax, trust and estate planning. He also advises individuals in relation to voluntary compliance and foreign bank account reporting issues. In addition, he assists individuals with expatriation planning. Mr. Ho holds a Masters degree (LL.M) in Taxation from New York University.

In firm recruitment news, Linklaters recently appointed Mark Middleton as graduate recruitment partner. Mark is a capital markets partner and will work with existing graduate recruitment partner Euan Clarke.  Middleton will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s graduate recruitment initiatives in the UK.
