Asia Insight: “Deal Cultivation” in China M&A

A recent podcast interview between Kent Kedl and Dr. Kim Woodard addressed some of the issues lawyers will face when working on M&A in China. The pair focus on pre-due diligence and building trust-based relationships, which is often much easier said than done.   One interesting, but somewhat unsurprising note (as pointed out in the China Law Blog’s analysis) is that this kind of trust building needs to take place much earlier in the M&A process in China as opposed to in the U.S. where you can go a bit further based on hand shakes and oral agreements.  It’s a must listen for any lawyer working in China or with Chinese companies, and you can do so HERE.
